Asheville, NC is a place close to my heart.  When Hurricane Helene hit in September 2024, my dear friend Karin Erickson and I were devastated by the hurricane's damage and felt called to action.  We co-wrote the story There Was a Hurricane to help the children and families impacted by the storm. 

We expected the book to reach only a small community, but it ended up being distributed in school systems, early childhood organizations, and therapeutic programs across the state of North Carolina. In addition, we were interviewed by both The Washington Post and the Wednesday Journal of Oak Park and River Forest.
