Rachel Jamieson (she/her/hers), M.S.Ed., has been educating and caring for young children since 2009. She holds a B.A in Psychology from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC and a M.S. Ed in Early Childhood General and Special Education from Bank Street College of Education in New York City.
She taught in infant, toddler, or preschool classrooms from 2009-2024, primarily in inclusive or special education classrooms. She left the full-time classroom in 2024 to pursue certification as a postpartum doula. Additionally, she teaches Pre-Ballet and Caretaker-and-Me Circus classes.
Both in and out of the classroom, she has written and used countless individualized social stories with her students and with the children of her friends and family. Her recent book about Hurricane Helene has been widely distributed to children and families across Western North Carolina and was recently featured in The Washington Post. She has also presented to teachers on how to write and use social stories in early childhood classrooms.
